Opened up to show still living Gape Worms (Syngamus trachea}; below Oesophagus with (Cyathostoma sp. ) A compaction of these leading to a blockage of airways probable cause of death. Earthworms (Lumbricus sp. ), are an intermediary host and the feeding of the chick by parents of these could have been the means of infection. Head end of neck off bottom left.
