Upon a high hill in the edge of McConnelsville is a largemound owned by Mr Alderman. He consented to let us exploreit, although his residence is but sixty feet distant and the moundreally a lawn ornament. We did the work with care and re-stored the structure to its original form. Being well preserved, this fine earth monument stands eightfeet high and sixty feet base. It overlooks the river and theSprague mound in the center of town below. Perhaps the ele-vation of Mr. Aldermans lawn above low water in the river, is175 feet. In the center, and just above the base line, we uncoveredsome two bushels
