Demolition of old coal power station at Great Yarmouth in May 1997 - viewed across the River Yare

The power station, which was originally designed to burn coal, was closed in 1985, after a short reprieve a year earlier during the minors' strike which forced to station back into full commission. A Yorkshire-based demolition company used 300 Kgs of explosives to bring down both the chimney and main building.
