In 1836 and 1837, Mr. Ladd pub-lished in the Christian Mirror a seriesof twenty-two essays on Obstaclesand Objections to the Cause of Peace. the annual meeting of the AmericanPeace Society was held in New YorkMay, 1834, its founder was un-able to attend. In a beautiful letterof greetings, however, he made aliberal contribution of money for thecarrying on of the work. In 1840 and1841 he undertook an extensive lec-ture tour in western Massachusettsand New York. He planned also atrip into Ohio. But he was obligedto abandon the Ohio itinerary.
