Eastville, Bristol, UK. 20th May 2021. Scores of police and bailiffs have surrounded a traveller encampment in Bristol and closed the road as the site is evicted of its occupants. Approximately 75 travellers, including children, have been living on the derelict land which was formerly used as a gasworks along Glenfrome Road in the Eastville area of the city. Landowner Wales & West Utilities say the group, understood to have moved in a few weeks ago, are "illegally occupying" the site. The travellers were issued with a 24-hour eviction notice at 12pm on Tuesday (May 18) but had requested further time to make alternative arrangements.
