Hypogeum of Hal-Saflieni. This underground temple is located in the town of Paola in Malta. It was originally excavated in around 2500 BC, and later became a necropolis. It is the only prehistoric underground temple in the world. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980. Photographed in 2009.
