Epilepsy pills. Box and blister packs of Tegretol anticonvulsant pills for the treatment of epilepsy. Each pill contains 200 milligrams of the drug carbamazepine. Anticonvulsant drugs such as this are also used to prevent seizures following a serious head injury or brain surgery. They act by suppressing the abnormally high levels of electrical brain activity which cause seizures.
