It thus covers the rightauricle, the auriculo-ventricular furrow, and the right borderof the right ventricle. The area on the chest wall corresponding to the partof the heart uncovered by lung can be accurately markedout by percussion, and is known as the area of superficialcardiac dulness. The area thus indicated would be mapped out as follows :its right margin, by a line running from above downwardsslightly to the left of the middle line of the sternum fromthe level of the fourth costal cartilage down to that of thesixth ; its highest point
