VIATOR COLLEGE HISTORICAL St. Viator College was founded in 1868 for the highereducation of Catholic youth. Six years later it received itsUniversity charter from the State Legislature of Illinois. Byvirtue of this charter the institution is empowered to grantdegrees in Arts, Sciences, Letters, and Philosophy. Buildings. In a few years the first college buildingwas inadequate to accommodate the large number of studentswho came to avail themselves of the advantages which College presented for a liberal education.
