The Inner City Public Hospitaland the Outer City Public Hospital are under the control of thehealth department of the Peking Police Board. According tothe police report the budget of the two institutions amounts to$60,934 a year! The Hospital for Contagious Diseases is run bythe Municipal Council. The Japanese hospitals, as far as is known,are all private institutions and are operated for profit. Three ofthe American hospitals and the French Hospital are missionhospitals.
