The breeding rage includes the whole of eastern Canada except the barren regions of the north; in the United States it is found in the northern parts, south to Massachusetts, northern New York and Michigan and in mountains south to Maryland. They pass the winter in southern Mexico and Central America, principally at high altitudes; the birds in eastern United States make the journey across the gulf while the western ones usually follow along the east coast of Mexico. DESCRIPTION. Length 5 inches. Can be identified in any plumage by the yellow.
