CY - KATO PAPHOS: Ayia Kyriaki Church and location of St. Paul's Pillar (not in picture)

Situated in the centre of lower Paphos, not far from the harbour, this picturesque church (Ayia Kyriaki), is set amongst the ancient ruins of St Paul’s Pillar, dating back to ancient times, making it one of the most famous archaeological sites in Cyprus. The apostle Paul of Tarsus visited the town during the 1st century AD. The town of Paphos is included in the official UNESCO list of cultural and natural treasures of the world's heritage. NOTE: As from February 2012 this magnificent view will no longer present itself to the visitor. Concrete pillars are being pushed into this archaeological site in order to support ugly wooden pathways all over this ancient site. Cultural vandalism on an immense scale!
