They were thenferreted out by a sergeant-at-arms and broughtto the bar of the Senate Chamber to answer forcontempt. Even when compelled to take theirplaces in the joint ballot they still refused toanswer to their names; but a sufficient numberof votes was finally secured to decide the elec-tion.
