The success of this establishment hasgained for it a world-wide fame, and has becomecelebrated as the largest threshing machine manu-factory in the world. Mr. Erskine is a gentleman who has won theuniversal esteem of all who know him. In no senseis he a politician, yet he has been called to fill manyimportant local offices; school commissioner andsupervisor of the city, elected mayor of Racine in1869, and reelected in 1870 and 1871; he is also.
