Mr. Davenport, in 1801, became connected with theCongregational Church in North Stamford, but soonafter his first marriage, removed to New Canaan, andpurchased a farm adjoining that of his father-in-law,Dea. Benedict. This he cultivated w^ith his own handsfor nearly forty years, when he retited from active la-bor, and passed the remainder of his life in Brooktyn,N. Y., where he died January 16, 1860, in the 79thyear of his age. On his settlement in New Canaan,he removed his ecclesiastical connection to the churchthere, but at the time of his death was a member ofPlymouth Church, Brooklyn.
