Holotype, BM Diagnosis Small species. Elongated depressed body. Very sharply pointed head. Relatively short hindlegs. Ill-defined lanceolate concavity. Prefrontals in contact. Two large supraoculars corresponding to the second and third with the fourth divided into two or three scales. Nostril situated among three scales. Two rows of granules between the supraoculars and the superciliaries. Four supralabials anterior to the subocular. Subocular in contact with the upper lip. Small, weakly keeled dorsals. Ten straight transverse rows of ventrals. Toes tricarinate ventrally with scant lateral pectination. Distribution In 1887 Boulenger described guineensis using a young specimen which Hartert had collected from the mouth of the Niger river. There must have been an error, however, in the locality since all the material later collected comes from the arid zones of Nigeria and Ghana, this making more sense in the zoogeography of the genus Map 15. Distribution of A.
