Oesophagus cancer treatment. Computer artwork of a stent in a patient's oesophagus (gullet). Stents are wire mesh tubes inserted into body passages to help widen and/or hold them open. Cancers in the oesophagus can cause narrowing leading to difficulty swallowing, therefore stents are used to dilate the oesophagus. Here currency symbols are incorporated into the mesh of the stent to represent the cost of such treatments.
