Triumphal entry of Charles VII, King of France, into Paris, c1435. Charles's (1403-1461) majestic entry into Paris preceded by his swordbearer, after the city was recaptured from the English. Ladies watch from balconies, while doves of peace are released in the foreground. The reign of Charles VII saw the recovery of all France from the English with the exception of Calais.
