Haltern am See, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany - Germany's largest floating solar park. 5,800 photovoltaic elements produce 3 million kilowatt hours

Haltern am See, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany - Germany's largest floating solar park. 5,800 photovoltaic elements produce 3 million kilowatt hours of electricity from solar energy every year. The plant, built by energy company Baywa RE, then saves around 1,100 tons of climate-damaging CO2 every year. Quarzwerke Haltern uses 75% of the green electricity itself. 25% is fed into the public grid. The freely financed project does not require any EEG subsidies.
