There are some errors in Tanner and the Monasticon, confusingthis manor with the advowson of the church of Saddlescombe (now calledSelscombe, a parish near Battle), respecting which the MS. Placita de Banco,9 Hen. III. rot. 18 (not 28, as in Tanner), records that the Prior of the Hos-pitallers recovered it by a lawsuit on the death of the incumbent. The parishchurch where the preceptory was situated never belonged to it. THE. CAMDEN m^^t>M SOCIETY, FOR THE PUBLICATION OF EARLY HISTORICAL AND LITERARY REMAINS.
