. Florists' review [microform]. Floriculture. • *• 'rTTx^'V r^T^ 72 BENVEB. The Market. The great quantity of outdoor flowers has had a depressing effect on business the last month. Asters, dahlias, gladi- .oli, etc., have grown unusually well in the garden this summer, and conse- quently have lessened the demand for greenhouse stock. Boses und carnations are plentiful, and a good many are sold, but at sUch low prices as to be almost given away. Green goods are scarce, and fern leaves are in demand, although there are none in the market as yet. Various Notes. The Bargain Flower Store, conducted by W. D. Black, has moved from 1455 Broadway to 235 Fifteenth street. John Berry, for several ye^rs in charge of the Monument Valley park, in Colorado Springs, has been appointed superintendent of the City park of Denver. Mr. Berry is well fitted for the position, and his friends have no doubt that he will be most successful in his new work. Thurston H. U. Smith has just com- pleted another greenhouse, which will add 500 square feet of glass to his range. C. J. Hurt has a new automobile. It is surprising how quickly the florists are catching the auto fever. The new store at 1515 Champa street is the Colorado Seed & Nursery Co., wholesale and retail dealers in seeds, bulbs, plants, cut flowers, nurs- ery stock, etc. The members of the firm are all former employees of the Barteldes Seed Co., and are C. E. Boot, Wm. Horlacher, and Lewis Malone. Visitors: J. S. Wilson, Des Moines, la.; Balph Bichey, Albia, la.; Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Angermueller, St. Louis, Mo.; C. A. Espelin, T. J. Warren, Fort Collins; Frank Sauerwald, Colorado Springs; Mrs. B. C. Eobinson, La Junta; P. O. Hansen, Greeley, Colo. M. E. J. North Stoughton, Mass.—Miss B. A. Washington is building an addition to her greenhouses. Every Florist ' will find much of interedt and yalne in these volumes and CAN RECOMMEND THEM or sell them to bis customers.
