PLYMOUTH ROCK A leader in peaches, comparatively new, whose great merits cause it to be in large demand. The largest and best early peach yet introduced. A great improvement upon Alexander, with which it ripens, blooms late, a sure and abundant bearer, strong grower, does not rot, and comes into bearing early. Fruit is large, with small pit, yellow with mottled crimson cheek, very handsome; flesh yellow and ripens evenly to the stone, firm in texture, fine in quality, a perfect freestone. It is sure to give great satisfaction to all who plant it and may be recommended with the utmost confidence. For prices see preceding page. We invite attention to our stock of Standard Varieties, which is very large and the trees are very fine; being straight, smooth, bright and well furnished, and are entirely free from disease or scale of every kind. For market growing there is no cherry better or more profitable than this, and m the home garden its relia- ble, abundant yield and fine quality cause it to fill every demand for table use. We have known it for several years and have widely advertised its merits, with the result that it is now greatly called for. The most re- markable property about it is its total freedom from decay and the extraordinary fact that, for some unac- countable reason, its fruit is never molested by birds, one of the greatest obstacles to successful cherry-grow- ing. The cherries are large, bright amber, largely overspread with carmine, sweet, rich, sprightly, juicy and tender, with small stone, and will keep in fine con- dition when ripe longer than any other variety. The tree is a vigorous, clean grower, an early and heavy, annual bearer. We have greatly reduced the price of it (see below) as als
