(Dr. Koch leg.)A few very fine spécimens agreeing with KlENERs figure and some smaller ones hâve M. M. SCHEPMAN, LAND- AND FRESHWATER MOLLUSCA ETC. 189 been collected ; I hâve made use of the discarded generic name Nassa, as the opinion ofauthors often disagrees as to the name and extension of the group. The radula has a médiantooth with 12 cusps and the latéral ones with 2 cusps, of which the proximal one has itsdistal margin smooth or with one (as figured) or more small denticles, which are often scarcelyvisible; no accessory teeth could be observed. Shell differing from the type by being quite destitute of real tubercles and by themuch narrower aperture. New Guinea. Merauke, 1904. (Dr. Koch leg.) This shell has much puzzled me and I was nearly ready to describe it as a newspecies, however the gênerai appearance and sculpture, induced me to consider it merely asa variety of the very variable C. carinifera; only the upper whorls display very faint tracesof tubercles, the last one quite smooth, but for the fine sculpture. The nearest figure at hand,is that of Reeve (Conch. le, Purpura, sp. 26), the figures of KlENER, even his fig. 36^, aremuch more elaborate. 2. Cymia dubia n. sp. PL VIII, fig. 2.
