Bird cycle?
I never could discern the rational for capturing and then freeing birds to please the Buddha and thus gain credits. Why the Buddha views this as meritorious seems very odd indeed. Personal feeling I got the distinct impression though that the free birds were "communicating" with the captured ones - perhaps telling them not to
