A group of Caretos are seen walking by a mural with a Careto portrait during the Carnival celebrations in Podence, 20 km from Macedo de Cavaleiros. The Careto tradition is a pre-historical Celtic religious ritual practised in some regions of Portugal. Among the oldest traditions in the country, since a few years back, during 4 days, Podence attracts more 30,000 people during Carnival Celebrations. Caretos of Podence are waiting the verdict to join the UNESCO's Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
