Royal Vauxhall pre-flight consultation. Historical artwork depicting a meeting held prior to the flight of the Royal Vauxhall in 1836. The balloon flight, which set a record for distance covered in a balloon, departed from Vauxhall, London on 7th November and arrived in Weilburg, Germany, 18 hours later. The balloon is at upper left. The men depicted are, from left to right: Walter Prideaux, John Hollins, William James. Around the table are: Robert Hollond, Charles Green, and Thomas Monck Mason. Hollond, Green and Mason formed the Nassau Party who made the journey. Original painting by J. Hollins after an engraving by J. H. Robinson. Published in 1843.
