All you have to do, they will say pityingly, isto catch hold of the poor bird and wring its neck,and they may, perhaps, if so constituted, add thatthey have often done it themselves. Further-more, they will add, birds-nesting is an obsoletepastime, since the local enactments of every countycouncil have long since made it illegal.
