Preparing to Defend Margarine Information to be Obtained From Retailers to Assist in the Campaign to Defend Need For This Product in Canada The Ontario Provincial Board of theRetail Merchants Association are send-ing out a questionnaire to the entiretrade of the province, grocers, generalmerchants, butchers, and provision deal-ers, enquiring how they stand on thequestion of margarine. There seems to be little doubt thatthere will be a definite effort to have theprohibition imposed on the sale of thisproduct in Canada some years ago, re-imposed, and it is desired to combat thiscampaign with definite knowledge gainedfrom those who have been handling theproduct. That there is still an urgentneed for this product seems evident. Due to the war, the entire world is stilldeficient in fats, and although the armis-tice has been signed and the peace dele-gates are at work, it will be years beforethe world supply of fats will be sufficientto meet demands.
