A German war hammer, probably Saxony, circa 1600. Slightly curved beak of square section with lightly cut socket and a flat hammer head on the opposite end. On the reverse a dovetailed belt hook. Solid iron shaft, the upper half twisted. Asymmetrical guard disk with rectangular hole for the lanyard and triangular parrying hook on the reverse. Grip wound with iron wire, double conical pommel.
