The 54 metre high Bell tower and adjoining arches bathed in early morning sunlight on the site of the Mosque minaret of Abd al-Rahman 11 from the Patio de Los Naranjos (orange tree courtyard) at the Mosque/ Cathedral of Cordoba in Andalusia in southern Spain. Adjoining the bell tower is the main entrance gate ‘Puerta del Perdon’ (Door of forgiveness). It was built in 1377. Patio de Los Naranjos (orange tree courtyard) is the oldest and largest patio in Cordoba. It is filled with orange and olive-growing trees, palms and cypresses. The fountain of Santa Maria is also a feature in the Patio de Los Naranjos where once it was used by Muslim worshippers who performed a ritual called, ‘Wudu’, by washing their feet, face, hands and arms before prayer.
