(April 7, 2014) - Chris Dellith, a senior fish and wildlife biologist with the Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) in Ventura, watches as John O'Brien, senior environmental scientist, supervisory, with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), tests water quality to confirm its viability for unarmored threespine sticklebacks, a federally and state endangered species. A team of biologists and scientists from USFWS and CDFW rereleased 151 unarmored threespine sticklebacks into the creek April 14, after conducting an emergency rescue of the fish late last year in response to a fire that threatened their habitat.
