Habanero chillies (Capsicum chinense) growing on a plant in the UK.
The Habanero chilli is one of the world's hottest, with a Scoville rating (originally devised by Wilbur Scoville in 1912) of between 100,000 and 350,000. It is similar to, and often confused with, the equally hot Jamaican Scotch bonnet.
