British Forces in the Middle East, 1945-1947 Corporal T F Higgins, a pre-war electrical draughtsman from Birmingham, trains in shoe making. This was one of the pre-vocational courses on offer at the Middle East Base Depot of the Royal Artillery near Cairo to prepare demobilised soldiers for a return to 'civvy street'.
