HD 149026 b exoplanet transit, illustration. HD 149026 b (also called Smertrios) is a hot Saturn-type planet (black dot at left), orbiting the yellow subgiant star HD 149026. This planetary system is 257 light years from Earth in the constellation of Hercules. The planet is thought to have a large dense core. It is the largest and longest-period Kepler transiting circumbinary planet discovered to date. It was discovered by the N2K Consortium in 2005 using the radial velocity method, with transit studies carried out to confirm its existence.
