Oviraptor dinosaur egg fossils. Fossils appear as rock slowly forms around objects buried in mud. As the rock forms, the shape and anatomy of buried animals and plants can be preserved, including secondary structures such as eggs. Oviraptor was a small theropod dinosaur that lived around 75 million years ago in the late Cretaceous. These egg fossils are part of a nest found in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia.
