City wall of ancient Guangzhou. Built during the Ming dynasty in the 1300s, this is one of the few remaining truly old constructions in the city of Guangzhou. This remaining section, in Yuexiu Park, is only a relatively short section; the rest of the wall was destroyed in the early twentieth century to provide material for road building and similar. The characteristic haze is part of the atmosphere of the city.
