Livedo reticularis disorder affecting the blood vessels (dark red) under the skin of a 38-year-old man. Livedo reticularis refers to the marbled appearance of the skin due to the discolouration of the blood vessels, caused by swelling of the venules owing to obstruction of capillaries by small blood clots. It may be harmless, or a symptom of underlying pathology.
