Prostate gland (lower centre) and bladder (upper centre), artwork. The bladder receives urine from the kidneys through the two ureters (top centre and top right). The tubes passing over the bladder are the vasa deferentia, bringing sperm from the testes and passing through the seminal vesicles (irregular objects on rear of bladder). Emerging from the base of the prostate gland (which surrounds it) is the urethra, which carries urine from the bladder, as well as secretions (forming semen) from the prostate, vas deferens and seminal vesicles. Two small glands on the base of the prostate are Cowper's glands (bulbourethral glands) that produce pre-ejaculate.
