Birling Gap, East Sussex, UK. 17th Feb 2014. A calmer day on the South coast today. Overcast and less windy. The past storms have caused record erosion of the cliffs. The end cottage is now a meter from the cliff face and is facing demolition. The owners anticipated another 5 years use of the family holiday home. Built in 1863 the largest years previous recorded erosion was 16 ft in the 1930's. This will be the third cottage in the block to be lost to erosion. Credit: David Burr/Alamy Live News
