Quarters A Commanding Officer's House dates to 1870 and stands on the south side of the Parade Ground. It was originally built for one family, but was later divided into a duplex with 2 kitchen wings and verandas on three sides. Fort Laramie was owned by the US Army 1849-1890. In the 1950s and 60s its buildings were restored by the National Parks Service.
