For my ownpart I am ready to aver that although to paint the lily and gild refinedgolS may be a figure of speech which it is the province of a poet toutter in this eminently prosaic age, it is scarcely calculated to make thehungry hunger less, or those who are cold to cease repining and shiv-ering together.
