Aissata Hamidou, 10, with her mother Hawa Hamidou, 39, at home in their village Djagourou, Tera. 

Aissata has been a sponsored child for a UK aid agency since 2005. She would like to be a teacher when she grows up. 

Hawa has been part of the gardening group for seven years. Before she joined she could not afford to pay for school supplies for her children. Now they have food stocks sufficient to see them through the current food crisis.
