A 1848 - 53 helmet for officer's, of Pioneers or for an Aide-de-Camp. Leather skull, nickel silver cross-base and spike in the Mecklenburg style for screwing on a hair crest. Rear spine (No front peak edging!). Silver-plated star with a gilded medallion bearing the coat of arms, attached with eyes and leather wedges. Convex metal chinscales on screw inserts (different shapes), woven silk cockades, blue-red-yellow, and the Imperial black-red-gold (1848 - 1853). Sheep leather lining. Size designation 21 3/4". The lacquered surface has beautiful light craquelure. ,
