Palapa B2 communications satellite being deployed from the Space Shuttle Challenger's cargo bay into Earth orbit. This was one of two satellite deployments during the mission, both of which were placed in a lower-than-planned orbit due to the malfunction of both Payload Assist Modules (PAM). The satellites were later retrieved and returned to Earth. Photographed on 3rd February 1984.
