The old factory clock at Chelsea market, New York

Chelsea Market is a wonderful food arcade located in a former factory building. From the late 1800's to the 1950's it was the site of the National Biscuit Company, more commonly known as "Nabisco" In that location they produced some of the world's most famous cookies and crackers, including Saltines, Fig Newtons, and the popular Oreo. The very first Oreo was made in this factory. When the railroads stopped passing through the west side of Manhattan, the factory closed down, and the building was left vacant for many years. Fortunately, it was purchased, and in 1997 it reopened as the popular food market that it now is. Most of the old factory details were left in tact, resulting in a wonderful atmosphere. There is exposed brick, old machines, metal beams, and much more.
