The US Post Office and former Federal Courthouse, Sherman Street, Deadwood, was completed in 1907. The architect was James Knox Taylor. It was used by the US District Court for the District of South Dakota, until the court was abolished in 1912. The building is still used as a US Post Office. The half-mast American Flag is in remembrance of American soldiers killed in Afghanistan, August 2011.
