Unique medieval painted wooden panels in ceiling of St Leonard's church, and triumphal arch, Breg ob Kokri, Preddvor, Kranj, Gorenjska region, Slovenia


One of the best preserved medieval church interiors in Slovenia, and the only one of its kind with wooden painted panels. 30 individual scenes painted in 1470-1480 lay hidden for almost 500 years behind a false ceiling. The pictures, by Friulian masters of Senicno, and discovered in 1971, depict scenes from the life of Christ and Mary. Seen here is part of the ceiling and triumphal arch leading to the of the church's original painted glass windows was stolen in recent times
