Dome of Les Invalides (Église du Dôme aka Saint Louis des Invalides Church), seen from the inner courtyard. The complex was built as an Hospital for Invalides, under a project comissioned by King Louis XIV, by the architect Libéral Bruant in 1676. A chapel was built by Bruant and Jules Hardouin Mansart (finished in 1679) an lately, the separate private royal chapel (Église du Dôme aka Saint Louis des Invalides Church), with its famous dome, was built by Mansart under comission of Louis XIV (inspired by St. Peter's Basilica in Rome) finished in 1708. This Dome is one of the most importants examples of French Baroque architecture and the original for all baroque domes. Paris. France.
