The main debating Chamber in the Council House, Birmingham, UK.

The main debating Chamber in the Council House, Birmingham, UK. The Council meets monthly (except August and September). Extraordinary meetings are sometimes held to deal with particular issues. Agendas, Reports and Decisions of meetings can be viewed via the 'Democracy in Birmingham' Pages. Since 1879, the meetings have taken place in the semi-circular Chamber with its elaborately carved screen of Riga oak, panels of Italian walnut and murals depicting 'Truth' and 'Justice'. For more than a century, history has been made in this Chamber with votes cast, issues debated and disputes settled democratically.
