The greenhouse heating equipment advertised in this paper is, we believe, the best for the trade to buy, and each article the best in the special field of its adaptation. WILL THE BOILER SUFFICE? I propose to build two connected greenhouses, one of them 14%xl30 and the other 14%xl20. The height to the eaves and to the middle gutter will be four feet; the height to the ridge in each house will be eight feet. The side walls and gable ends will be without glass and will be constructed of two thicknesses of 1-inch drop siding, with building paper between. The houses will run east and west. I can get a ten horse-power return flue tubular boiler, seven feet long and thirty-six inches in diameter, with twelve 3-inch flues. The fire-box is about 20x36 inches. Can I heat these two houses with this boiler, using hot water? I wish to maintain a night tem- perature of 50 to 55 degrees, here in the climate of central Ohio. Will it be necessary to put the boiler in a pit? What size and height of smokestack should be used with this boiler? How should the piping be arranged, using 2-inch returns? In the north house there will be three raised benches; in the south house, two raised benches and one solid bed. C. A. B. To heat the houses described to 55 degrees in zero weather will require about 1,200 square feet of radiation.
